Earlier in 2024, the Indigo Ink team gave a presentation on digital foil at PaperSpecs Live in Chicago. PaperSpecs Live is the largest paper-and-print focused design conference of its kind, and we were thrilled to share our knowledge of digital foil (aka “sleeking”) with passionate print professionals just like us. If you missed the event this year, you can now view a recording of our presentation featuring Alex Donoho, lead pressperson (and mad scientist in residence) at Indigo Ink. Alex discusses the nuances of the sleeking technique, some examples of how it has been used, and a few tips and tricks on designing with it. This is a relatively new alternative to traditional foil and is a viable option for designers to explore when budget and quantity typically make hot foil unfeasible.
